Laginha is Mindelo’s beach: easy, busy on Sundays, a swim when the swell is kind. Baía das Gatas, on the east, is a lagoon-like bay and the site of a famous August music festival.
Getting there
Laginha is a walk from town. Baía das Gatas is a taxi or aluguer. Festival week needs a room booked early. The rest of the year the bay is quiet and good for a lazy afternoon.
