Mindelo is the only Cape Verdean city that feels like a city after dinner. Colonial squares, a working harbour, clubs on Rua de Lisboa.
What to do
Walk the waterfront at dusk. Ask a guesthouse which room is playing tonight — not a packaged “cultural show”. Monte Verde is the viewpoint over the channel to Santo Antão. Laginha is the town beach: brown sand, local families.
Honest notes
Power cuts happen. Carnival in February/March books out months ahead. Stay in the centre if you want to walk home.
